June Event

Next Event: On June 4th and 5th, Dan Kneer, an expert speaker in auditing, data analysis, and continuous auditing will present for two full days (16 Auditing CPEs !) on Auditing Analytics (Auditing Smarter , Not Harder).

Upon leaving this course, you WILL audit "faster...better" (50%-1000%) , with stronger findings, reduced cycle time (or eliminate it), less travel, reducing business risk, and a stronger Control Environment. Also, you'll have the screen shots to help you replicate these procedures after you leave. (Any version of Microsoft Office is okay to replicate what was learned in class)

For more information and to register for this exciting event, click here.

The learning objectives for this course include:

  • Advanced Analytics - Ever wonder if your analytics provide real evidence. Research has validated that techniques like ratio analysis provide almost no real value. The IIA's Red Book (section 2320-1) sets you free, to perform Advanced Analytics. Why don't we learn the best of Advanced Analytics...hands-on! Also, these tools have been proven to be the # 1 fraud finders!# 1 . You ALREADY HAVE THESE tools...hidden in Excel!
  • Continuous Control Monitoring - There are tremendous opportunities lost in the area of process level controls. Are you aware of the robust control capabilities in ERPs (called triggers and configurables). Let's say this again, YOUR COMPANY ALREADY HAS THESE CONTROL CAPABILITIES!!!! These are native, embedded controls...so IT can't say you'll blow up the system with your add-on! Let's take a peak into applications and look at opportunities lost. We can configure the core business rules, and related metrics. This is why we need "both sides of the room (CIAs and CISAs), working together.
  • Demo MS Access (press the keys if you like) - MS Access is competing with/replacing many other packages used by auditors. Access has beautiful click-and-drag Query Building...but we can fly higher! We will utilize the Wizard functions, thereby obtaining the look/feel/functionality of expensive "audit software". Additionally, we will investigate the wonderful reporting capabilities of Access (Forms and Reports)
  • Demo Stat Sampling Freeware - Stat Sampling is making comeback due to SOX and increased Tests of Controls. RELAX: this isn't going to be those mind-numbing tables from your college text. Ironically, you take judgment samples which, many times, are larger than stat samples (and don't project their work to the population). Thus you are cheating yourself out of your good work. This software is FREE!
  • Help Your Business, and Meet the Demands of your CAEs - Your CAE is receiving a varied "to do" list from management and stakeholders. Many of the tools in this course will help you in new areas of endeavor: B2B risk management, cost cutting, identification of best practice and forecasting etc. Internal Audit is well-positioned to take a larger role in ADDING VALUE to the company
